Kayaking on Piława (Gwda) river in Drawskie Lake District (Pojezierze Drawskie)

We rented kayaks from www.mrowka.pl, they advised us on a suitable route, as long as we the time we had (4 days), the starting point and potential end points (and drive us and pick us up there), we got a map and all good advices. We started on the lake in Łubowo and finished shortly before Czechyń. Most beautful part is from Nadarzyce to Szwecja which is also a good optoin for 1 day trip. The river is amazingly clean with (crampons living in) until Głowaczewo. Before Głowaczewo is fishing farm which takes clean water from the river and later give it back but not clean anymore.... On the way you can sleep on the campings with fireplaces and evnings with the guitar(campings are in the map we got or just online) or in the wild there are many suitable places as well. Be aware that in few places are obstacles (power station, damming etc.) and you need to move the kayaks on the land for some meters (20-50 m). You need to be stron enough for it. River is shallow and very kids friendly. You can take kids of any age with.

Mangart: mecca for motorcycles (Slovenia), Via ferrrata to Mangart

To the foot of the Mangart mountain there is a road, a dream rod for motorcycles and sufficiently wide for the cars, but only for people with strong nerves (although there were families with kids, older people etc.). The road goes above 2000 m, so the one that do not want to walk can be in high mountains just by car. At the top of the road there is a hut (Koča na Mangrtskem sedlu (1906 m)) where you can eat tasty.

From the hut we walked to the peak by Slovenia side (via ferrata). Italian side (without via ferrata) was still partially covered by the snow. The Views are amazing. Ferrata is not very difficult, I would say for kids 10+ with exprience.

Burano, colorful superb of Venezia

We started from Società Canottieri Treporti, were you can put easly kayaks on the water. Laggon of Venecia is very shallow and only on the fairway you have to be careful. Still we have sea kayaks. Water is very warm so even if you fall into the water, nothing happens. We jumped on puropose to have some refreshemnt. Burano is much more coloreful then Veneciaz and smaller - like the version of Venecia for children. It is also reachable by regular connection for turists so you do not need to go there by kayay.

Montasio, Jôf di Montasio, Farm Malga Montasio, Montasio Cheese

We came across Montasio on the recommendation of one Italian aplinist we met on another route. She was right, it's a great place for aplinists, but also for children. Everyone will find something for himself.

You get up to the valley by car or walking from Sella Nevea (most people are by car). At the end of the narrow road there is a parking place (it is possible to camp near the parking place ). From there you can walk to Farm Malga Montasio, buy there delitius chees (I liked moste Riccota) or jogurt from the milk from the cows that live in the meadows around. You can also walk to Refuge Giacomo di Brazza. Both aler suitable for childrne or even prams and both have menu for lunch/dinner. Around you have beautiful scnery. We meet there many happy familes.

If you have streghts for more, you can walk or go via ferrata to upper parts. We made it up to Jôf di Montasio. It is amazing but also you often go over the precipice.

Just be calrfull to choose the proper side of the river to land in the lock and not on the weir - worht to check a map before. The highlights are the Charles Bridge and Prague's Venice (very small on the left from Charles Bridge).

Rumpál: walk throught the forest and climbing with kids

In Mai is just beautiful, but some places are even more special. For example deciduous forest, befor the leaves will grow and make it dark. During the spring deciduous forest is full of flowers and very small fresh green leaves on the trees...so fresh and alive! Near Rumpal the forest is mature (protected area) with many deciduous trees and is amazing in Mai. On the top are small rocks - good for climb also with kids and a view on the part of the landscape below.

Gutštejn. Ruins like from a robber's fairy tale.

On a high rock, in a bend of the river, there are ruins of a medieval castle: Gutštejn. An improvised bridge made of fallen trees runs across the river. Around the forest. A place for a bonfire in the ruins. Fanatastic scenario for a joint sitting by the fire and crazy running around the land for children.

Doubrava (727 m) near Poleň - peak for sledges or prams...

There is no tourist sign to Velká Doubrava, but there are a lot of roads to this hill. They will all take you approximately to the U Hubert saddle (between Velká and Malá Doubrava). The most comfortable route is probably on the asphalt road, which starts at a bend above Věckovice and leads along the eastern slopes of Malá Doubrava. You can easly do it with pram or in the winter with sladges (nobody cleans the road from snow). The peak has very limited view because of the forest, but on one side there is a starting point for paraglides with no trees and open view.

Jvornik, Šumava (Bohemian Forest)

The sourrounding of the Javornik mountain is full of menhirs. They are not marekd on google maps, but are marked on mapy.cz or you can found detail rounds with map onsumavanet.cz We combined the walkt to the peak with sladges, drining water form the local sources and examing mehirs. The most know is called Moon Menhir (it has na sign of the moon in the "eye of menhir". It stands in the artifical postion most probably sicnce perhistory. The archeological reseacher of the place has never been done. All the menhirs I saw before were standing alone. Around Javornik it is different. All of them are surrounded by lots of oher stones with quite regular shapes - like it would be the old ruins of something, but so old that it is hard to judge.

On the peak Javornik itsleft there is an observation tower, but even if it is closed you ca still have a view on the sourrounding mountains in some directions.
