Montasio, Jôf di Montasio, Farm Malga Montasio, Montasio Cheese

We came across Montasio on the recommendation of one Italian aplinist we met on another route. She was right, it's a great place for aplinists, but also for children. Everyone will find something for himself.

You get up to the valley by car or walking from Sella Nevea (most people are by car). At the end of the narrow road there is a parking place (it is possible to camp near the parking place ). From there you can walk to Farm Malga Montasio, buy there delitius chees (I liked moste Riccota) or jogurt from the milk from the cows that live in the meadows around. You can also walk to Refuge Giacomo di Brazza. Both aler suitable for childrne or even prams and both have menu for lunch/dinner. Around you have beautiful scnery. We meet there many happy familes.

If you have streghts for more, you can walk or go via ferrata to upper parts. We made it up to Jôf di Montasio. It is amazing but also you often go over the precipice.

Rumpál: walk throught the forest and climbing with kids

In Mai is just beautiful, but some places are even more special. For example deciduous forest, befor the leaves will grow and make it dark. During the spring deciduous forest is full of flowers and very small fresh green leaves on the trees...so fresh and alive! Near Rumpal the forest is mature (protected area) with many deciduous trees and is amazing in Mai. On the top are small rocks - good for climb also with kids and a view on the part of the landscape below.

Bečov nad Teplou, small city, lots of attraction

Castle in Bečov nad Teplou guards second biggest treasure in Czechia (after crown jewels on the first place): Reliquary of St. Maurus. The tour with the guide is fascinating like good criminal. The landscape around is beautiful: the town itself, rocks (for climbing), river and two Via ferratas in botanical garden. One very easy and small - perfect to try out with small kid (4.5 year old did it on my eyes :-)). We spent beautiful day in Becov.

Königstein (Sachsen) by land and water

Surrounding of Konigstein offers many different outdoor activities (and many camping places). We spent one day in canoe going down the Elbe river to Pirna (and the way back by train: we just let the air out of the rubber canoes and took them with us to the train). Second day we walk through the rocks to the pick: Lilienstein viewpoint. I liked both but walking made the kids more tired.

On the way Berlin - Prague, walk above the clouds

The Děčínský Sněžník, 723m (German: Hoher Schneeberg) is a mountain in the Czechia Republic not far from the highway Berlin - Prague. If the weather is nice, definitely worth to take 2 hours for a walk and visit the peak. Suitable also for small kids and prams. On the top is view tower and restaurant with traditional Czech kitchen. We were lucky to be there during inversion and could admire the view on the other picks going out of on the clouds.

Tisa Rocks

The Tisa Rocks or Tisa Walls (Czech: Tiské stěny; German: Tyssaer Wände) are a group of rocks and one of the major tourist attractions in Bohemian Switzerland. They are like big climbing playground (childlike climbing without equipment although lots of secured climbing path with equipment all also there).

Ferrata on Nonnenfelsen: Nonnensteig

You do not have to go to Alps to give a try to rock climbing via ferrata. In Zittau Mountains gives more of via ferrata secured paths. Ferrata on Nonnenfelsen is one of them. As other, is short ( about 30-40 minutes of climbing) but interesting and gives the real feeling of the contact with rocks. Rocks in Zittau Montains are quite porous and therefore easy and nice to climb. On the top leads also usual walking path so non-climbing members of the trip have a fun too. Ferrata is suitable for beginners. Our 7 years old son made it and had fun.

Nonnensteig from distance.
